Podcasts have quickly become one of Luke and I's favorite mediums to talk about our topics and answer questions. This past week we recorded two podcasts to add to our collection. The first one was all about the Browns. The Browns recently released their schedule for the upcoming season, so we decided to go game by game and argue about what we believe the overall record will be a the end of the season. Now while Luke and I actually agree on how good the Browns will be next season, to make the podcast more interesting I took an opposing viewpoint. This was a little challenging since I agreed with a lot of Luke was saying and coming up with rebuttals was proved to be difficult. This was probably my favorite podcast to record so far just because it didn't require a ton of research since we were already fairly knowledgeable about the Browns and it got me excited for next season. Then we recorded a podcast where we talked about predictions and expectations the 2021 rookie quarterback class. Now this was a great topic because we genuinely had some disagreements about who would turn out the best and who might flop. The arguments seemed real and our voices carried a lot of inflection and emotion. With the Browns podcast, we ran a little long on our talking points and it ended up being close to 50 minutes so with this one, we were able to get it closer to 30 minutes which is what Mr. Simmons recommended. We have to be careful going forward not to go on too long because we want to keep our listener engaged the whole time. Mr. Simmons said to make sure we introduce ourselves every time at the beginning of the podcast and also ease into the topic instead of jumping right it. He compliment our use of some old rap songs to fill in background noise although he did say it made him feel old to think about when those songs came out.
Will, it sounds like you and Luke are having fun and learning lots on project. I'm glad that Mr. Simmons's advice and guidance is helpful and you can now recognize and are aware of how to improve your journalism skills. Thank you for sharing your website on your blog! In the next couple of days, I'm going to listen to a couple of your podcast episodes and I'll listen for the "old rap songs." I'm sure they'll make me feel old too! It's amazing how songs take you back in time. Keep up the great job blogging and taking me along for the ride! I look forward to talking with you, Mr. Simmons, and Luke tomorrow. -Mrs. Mullen
