Blog 3

Over the weekend, Luke and I finished up the next step in our project. After reading some articles, we decided that we wanted to explore rookie contracts in the NFL. There's seems to be a strong pattern that suggest several Super Bowl contending teams are structured around rookie contracts for their quarterbacks. Since this is a fairly large topic, we decided it would be best to pursue multiple mediums. I chose to create a video that would follow this topic across the league, using multiple teams and players as examples to prove the existence of this pattern whereas Luke decided to focus in on Patrick Mahomes as the most recent example of this pattern. I began by reading different articles that were centered around this topic and writing down some of the most jaw dropping statistics that were used. Once I had an idea of what I wanted to talk about, I began writing narration and forming a storyboard so I would know how to construct my video. After I finished narration, I used an Adobe program to create visual graphics to accompany some my stats because I think its more entertaining for the viewer. I began putting video together and patching different audio clips together to form the basis for my final creation. After hours of editing and putting finishing touches on, I finally published the video to YouTube and then sent to my mentor to get some feedback for next time. I then put the video and Luke's article on the website so that they would be displayed. I have a lot of experience creating videos, but it was interesting to placed on a timeline where I was working with other people. I'm used to exploring the topic independently and working to create the video around my school schedule. It was super helpful to be able to pursue the topic full time and I felt like my video improve greatly as a result.

  1. Will, when you have a chance, I would love to see the website that you and Luke have created to showcase your projects. Would you mind sharing it with me or posting it in your blog? I listen to podcasts, but I don't listen to sports podcasts, so I would love to listen to the one you created about Tom Brady. It will be interesting to see how the quality of the content you both create changes as the weeks pass, and you're able to implement feedback from Mr. Simmons. I'm also curious about what feedback you have received so far from Mr. Simmons to help guide you on this journey. Keep up the wonderful work, Will! - Mrs. Mullen
